Microsoft office is one of the most popular and most widely used productivity apps. It'll not be surprising to know that most of your colleague uses this app for their documentation needs. Sometimes people attach many images on their documents to make it a little easier to understand it, and if you wanted to use those images then you will have to save each image one by one. Today, in this tutorial I will show you an easier way to extract all images from MS Office documents.

How to Extract Images from Microsoft Office Documents

Once, one of my friend changed the file extension of an Android APK app to EXE to make it work on Windows PC! Well, changing the application format may not make it compatible with all the Operating Systems but you can use this trick to extract all the images from MS Office documents. This is a simple trick, and you'll just need to change the file extension of the document to ZIP. Please note that this trick only works with DocX, PPTX, and XLSX formats and changing the extension of other file formats might corrupt it. Follow the following steps to know how to do this.

  • Open Windows explorer and click on the "View" tab in the ribbon. Next, check the "File name extensions" from the Show/Hide section. It'll now show the file extensions of all the files in your drive.

  • Right click on the document and select rename. Next, change the file name to "document.zip" or you can simply change the portion after the period  (.) to ZIP.

  • That's it! System will automatically recognize it as a ZIP file. Extract it and find your images inside it.
Now extract the files and looks for image inside "word > media" (if you renamed a MS Word document ), "PPT > media" (if you renamed a PowerPoint file), or "XL > media" (if you renamed a Excel file).

Bonus tip: If you're too lazy to modify the file extension then simple open the documents directly with 7ZIP or WinRAR.
