How to Migrate from WordPress to Blogger

Blogger is a free and very simple to use blogging platform. If you don't know any programming language and don't have any experience of Computers than I you will probably choose Blogger as your Blogging platform. It is always recommended for new passionate Blogger to start their blogging niche with Google Blogger as it is free and you will be able to learn it very easily. Also, using a self hosted WordPress requires lots of money on buying hosting packages and getting a domain name. But with Blogger, you will get a very good up-time and you will need to care about hosting renewals and high charges. Now lets see how to migrate your WordPress (both self hosted and free) blog to Blogger.

Moving your WordPress blog to Blogger is not an easy task. You will first need to download the export file from your WordPress account and than you will need to upload it to Blogger. But the problem is that, Blogger doesn't support the XML format used in WordPress. And to make the XML export file to work with Blogger, you will need to convert it to make it compatible with Blogger. Lets us now see the process step by step.
  • At first sign in to your WordPress account. After signing in go to your Blog's Dashboard.
  • After that click on Tools and than choose Export.

  • In the exports page you will see some options that will allow you to choose which part of your Blog you want to add on your export file like Posts, Pages, Contact Forms etc. In most cases users want to export all the files from their previous blog, if you would like to export all the posts, pages etc. than tick on All Content.

We have now finished creating the WordPress export files. Now we will need to convert this format, which they call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. into the format compatible with Blogger. It's not much difficult task to convert the WordPress export file to Blogger. To convert follow the following steps.
  • Go to http://wordpress2blogger.appspot.com/ .
  • Now click on the choose button and choose the WordPress export file which you get from your WordPress account.
  • Click Convert button.
  • After that, a XML file will be downloaded. You will just need to upload this file using Blogger Import features.
If you don't know how to Import from Blogger than follow the below given simple steps to get started with Blogger Import feature.
  • It is quite simple to Blogger. First create a new Blogger Account if you don't have one.
  • After creating your Blogger account or from your existing Blogger blog, sign in to Blogger.
  • Now go the Dashboard. From the Dashboard go to Settings > Other > Import Blog.

  • Now you will be able to upload the Import File to Blogger that you get from wordpress2blogger.appspot.com.
  • Great! You have just migrated from WordPress to Blogger.
But their is a little limitation on creating export file from wordpress2blogger. You can't create file which is of more than 1 MB in size. In most cases, the file never goes above 1 MB size. If you WordPress export file more than 1 MB than it is not possible at this time to import your previous blogs to Blogger.
